Phil Foden’s agent to play key role with new Newcastle United owners
Owen Brown – Manchester City’s agent Phil Foden – is expected to play an advisory role at Newcastle United.
This is according to the Daily Mail, which claims Brown worked as a football consultant for PCP Capital Partners during their takeover bid for Newcastle.
Now that the buyout is complete, Brown is expected to stick around and review events at St James’ Park while advising the new owners.
Brown worked with Rafael Benitez in Liverpool. While at Anfield, he held positions such as scout, player liaison and manager’s advisor.
Brown, 61, has even been a nursery school in the past. He led Barrow, Droylsden and Vauxhall Motors but has not led since 2005.
This can be seen as a disappointment for Brown, however.
Last summer, The Independent reported that he was confident he would become director of football at Newcastle.
Instead, he will be an advisor in Newcastle, working closely with the new owners.
Don’t get upset – Foden surely won’t join Newcastle
The most intriguing note about Brown is that he currently represents Phil Foden as an agent.
This will ultimately lead to excitement among Newcastle fans in hopes that the Manchester City star will join the Magpies in the future.
Newcastle may have the money for such a move, but it’s hard to imagine Foden trading City for Newcastle.
Foden is the hero of City’s hometown and is expected to be their star man for 10 years or more.
Brown’s influence surely won’t change much as far as Foden is concerned, as Newcastle may not yet be quite in a position to make such huge additions.
