Cox Automotive Inc. announced the acquisition of Trudell Holdings Inc., the parent company of a network of trailer dealerships.

It said the step expands its offering in the medium and heavy-duty fleet parts and services sectors, and adds direct parts sales and tractor-trailer sales to its Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services portfolio.

The acquisition includes Trudell Trailer Sales and Northeast Great Dane, the exclusive dealers of Great Dane trailers in many Upper Midwest and Northeast locations. Great Dane builds dry cargo, refrigerated and flatbed trailers.

Trudell also distributes and sells parts directly to customers across the country. It provides trailer service and repairs, heavy truck and trailer parts sales, mobile on-site maintenance, in-shop semi-trailer repairs and industrial finishing with over 115 technicians at 13 locations in the upper Midwest and the Northeast, Cox reported.

Cox Automotive Mobility has 1,200 technicians, 750 mobile service trucks, 40 workshops and bills itself as the nation’s largest 24/7 self-contained emergency repair and towing service.

“The acquisition of Trudell represents our continued commitment to lead the future of fleet services and safely service trucks and trailers nationwide,” said Ted Coltrain, vice president of Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet. Services, in a press release.

Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises Inc., noted that this makes it easier for everyone to buy, sell, own and use vehicles. Among its informative brands are Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. — Transportation topics
